where you work.
A hotkey, a circle around what you’re stuck on, and the next step drawn on it. Not the answer.

Jade is in a classroom pilot. Builds go to pilot schools first; ask us for one.
Which one do I need?
It depends where
your work is.
- Schoolwork in a browser
- The Chrome extension. It reads the page, so a hint sticks to the right line as you scroll, and it knows a multiple-choice option when it sees one. This is the better half of Jade, and it is the half a Chromebook runs.
- A PDF, a document, a graphing app
- The desktop app. On a Mac or a PC it works over anything on your screen: press the hotkey, circle the question, and Jade draws on the picture it just took.
- Both
- Install both. Join each one with the same class code and the same name, so your teacher can see both are you.
After you install it
Join, press,
circle.
Join your class
Open Jade and type the class code your teacher gives you, and the name you want them to see. That is the whole sign-up: no email, no password.
Press the hotkey
⌘ ⇧ Space on a Mac, Ctrl ⇧ Space on Windows, or click Jade. In Chrome it is Alt ⇧ H, or the Help button on the page.
Circle what you’re stuck on
Jade points at it and talks you through the next move. Still stuck? Ask again and the hint goes one step further.

What it asks for
What it sees,
and never keeps.
What Jade needs
- To see what you’re working on: the tab you’re on in Chrome, or the part of your screen you circle on a Mac or PC. The desktop app looks only when you ask, and asks macOS or Windows for screen recording the first time.
- In Chrome, after you’ve been still on a page for a while: one screenshot of that tab, sent to Jade to decide whether to offer help. It only offers; a hint appears only when you ask. On pages like PDFs and videos it also compares tiny thumbnails of the tab every few seconds, too small to read; those never leave your computer.
- A class code, so your teacher can see you asked for help.
What Jade never does
- Look at other tabs, or send a picture of your screen when you’ve stepped away.
- Keep a screenshot. Each one is used for a hint or an offer and then it is gone.
- Type, click or submit anything for you. It draws on top of your work and never touches it.
- Read your files or your clipboard, or, in the Mac or PC app, send any part of your screen you didn’t choose.
